With funding from The Dewan Foundation we train more than 300 women every year
In 2007, Brighter Future opened a tailoring training centre to help women affected by leprosy, HIV/AIDS, disability and poverty. With funding from The Dewan Foundation, we train more than 300 women every year in tailoring, embroidery, fashion design and the use of industrial sewing machines.
The course lasts six months and the qualification gained is recognised by the Indian Government, helping the women to find employment in surrounding towns and cities.
Trainees also have the opportunity to apply for a small loan from The Dewan Foundation Microfinance Programme to buy equipment and start their own business.
Graduates regularly come back to our centre to refresh their training and learn new techniques. Some are even using their skills and expertise to train other women.
Garments made at our centre are sold to local shops so the women can earn a living to support their families.
