Our young people can train for a number of careers and receive a recognised qualification
Many young people affected by leprosy or HIV miss out on important stages of their education and struggle with a lack of self-belief.
As well as supporting them with their education through schooling and private tuition, our home at Shanti Nivas offers a 12-month vocational training opportunity.
For many, this is a crucial first step into employment and out of poverty
Our aim is that every young person is empowered and equipped with the skills they need to build a better future, both for themselves and for their families.
Our young people can choose to train for a number of careers (e.g. beautician, electrician, plumber, tailor) and receive a recognised qualification when they complete their course.
The training is both theoretical and practical. Many young people carry out their practical work in our leprosy colonies, where plumbing and electrics improve living standards for the whole community.
Ramesh lost both of his parents to HIV/AIDS when he was very young. He joined Brighter Future's home at Shanti Nivas when he was only eight years old.
After completing his school education, Ramesh decided to learn electrical and plumbing skills at the Vocational Training Centre. Throughout his training, Ramesh was keen to develop and often helped with plumbing and electrical work at the children’s homes.
Now 22, Ramesh is fully trained and Brighter Future is helping him to secure a job.
Thanks to his sponsor, Ramesh will leave Shanti Nivas with an education, confidence and skills for his future.
Just £25 a month will provide everything they need to complete their training at Shanti Nivas
